Peng: Music Connects People

Metal & Hardcore Night: Chaos Kills the Pain, Chinatown, Awake Mountains, HuaPi, WuYou

Need your fix of metal and hard-core music? Look no further. Grab your devil horns and get ready to slam the night away with School's incredible line-up: hardcore punks Chaos Kills the Pain, nu-metal ensemblehinatown , Awake Mountains, HuaPi, and saving the best for last metal band WuYou. Jump into the pit, if you dare.

Duck Game

Dancing and drinking might not be for you, so how about playing video games and drinking? Yard House welcomes their guests to sit down and enter the fowl territory of Duck Game. Win over the crowd and gain a following by blasting your feathered friends with Shotguns, Net Guns, Mind Control Rays, Saxophones, Magnet Guns, and nearly anything else a duck could use as a weapon. Try something different.

July 16

Two Men: Short Film Screening and Live Performance
7:30-9:30pm, Free
A stirring and visually stunning event will take over Pop-Up Beijing, with the screening of Two Men by young Chinese director, Zhao Yuanhao, with choreography by Yang Shao and an original score by Gao Xin. Afterward, guests will be treated to a live dance performance on site, followed by a Q&A with the director and cast. Free, but ¥50 donations to the China Red Ribbon Foundation are requested of all who can afford.

Soft Shell Crab Specials at Migas

While everyone else is probably off to some forsaken place getting pampered and living up the summer holiday, there are those like us who are sitting behind desks and wishing to be there with them. EGG Gallery New Exhibition: Unlimited
Every Tue.-Sun., 4-7pm

Abstract painting can open the window into the complexities of society. Egg Gallery’s exhibition Unlimited, hosts the abstract works of four Chinese artists. When Chinese artists practice abstract paintings, they naturally incorporate aesthetic elements and traditional Chinese philosophical thinking. Rare are the times to see such expression, so take the time and see what you can make of it.

July 20

"M2B Beijing-New York" & Sound Sculpture
9pm-Late, Free

Niko de La Faye in 2011 presented M2B, a sculpture that represents the universe placed on the back of a traditional tricycle. Niko took this tricycle and traveled from Beijing to Hong Kong (2012-13), and of course, there was going to be a movie about it. Come to Modernista to see the epic story behind the artist's trip. They promise their wonderful choice of wines will be there and later live music. Grab a seat.
