Recycling bins line sidewalks in Beijing, but the lack of charity shops shows us that material possessions often meet the dumpster rather than getting reused. Thrift store @Change champions the idea that one man’s trash is another man’s treasure.
The store reads “Swap Shop” on the outside, which describes the shop’s philosophy in a nutshell. Inside the recycled goods’ store are more diverse treasures than you could imagine. @Change offers patrons the opportunity to donate used items in exchange for store credit. Patrons can then purchase merchandise within the shop using the credit. They also take cash.
@Change offers a range of items from books and wallets, to rings and purses. They even sell electronics. Although there are decorative items for sale, owner Robin tries to stay away from antiques to keep the prices at a reasonable level.
