The "it" restaurant making a name for itself recently is the newly opened MOJO. Located smack-bang in the middle of Gongti, this golden monstrosity is the epitome of wealth. The first thing you'll think will be "holy crap that's a butt-load of gold." The owner and designer of MOJO spared no expense when it came to decorating his gastropub with the best and most expensive materials, like the hand-crafted gold leaf covered table tops.
MOJO aims to bring back the decadence of Hemingway's Paris or Fitzgerald's New York City, in the days when these cities were the hubs of international culture and the party capitals of the world.
Upon arriving at MOJO through the golden elevators you'll see an impressive glass wine cellar that houses over 1,500 different wines from all around the world. There will be some labels you'll recognize and many you've yet to discover. The sommelier has a vast knowledge of wine, a charming personality, and is eager and ready to introduce all his recent discoveries.
If you're in the mood for food (it is a gastropub after all), the Italian chefs at MOJO have prepared some classic dishes. Whether you're in the mood for a snack or if you want to have a full on dinner, there's something on the menu that'll satisfy. The open pizza kitchen with its wood oven offers guests their favorite classic Margherita (¥118), or Parma ham and rucola (¥138), or splurge on a truffle pizza (¥288) because, hell, you're already out partying in Gongti. If you're in the mood for some gastropub pasta, MOJO offers black truffle covered fresh homemade tagliolini (¥198). For the steak-lovers, MOJO also offers a Tomahawk steak (¥1,288) that's enough for two to share.
The music sets the mood. Music producer Michael Seifert tailor made a selection of soundtracks that includes jazz, chill wave, electro pop, and deep house for MOJO. Throughout the night, the music starts with mellow lounge music and progressively gets more and more pumping. By the time you leave you'll feel like you've just partied at a Gongti nightclub.
