Even as China charges into the 21st century with double-digit growth to make it the envy of the world, it remains in many ways a developing country. Beijing might be home to more billionaires than anywhere else, but still the capital sees many living in poverty.
GTC Residence, home to some of the city’s most fortunate, is trying to change that.
For the second year in a row GTC Residences hosted its GTC Charity Night, an annual fundraiser that partners with local charities to help young people in need. This year focused on collecting books to donate to their education and to participate in Roundabout’s popular market for books (among many other treasures sold by the charity). "Let the children swim in the ocean of knowledge and let this charity spread like the sun to every corner of the land," proclaimed Lena Jia, General Manager of GTC Residence Beijing.
We're excited for more events like this in the future -- and we hope they also feature the beautiful melodies of Zi You Sky, the husband-wife team of Fabrice and Élodie who carry their soulful sound from Paris to Beijing. Check them out at the capital's finest French locales, like the FLO family of restaurants, Le Petit Gourmand, and the annual Fête de la Musique.
