This week China's first (and only) independent gay video podcast series QAFBeijing explores the issues surrounding gay parenting with the premier of of their upcoming episode "I HAVE TWO FATHERS".

QAFBeijing (Queer As Folk Beijing) or 同志亦凡人 (Tongzhi Yi Fanren) is an online gay/queer lifestyle talkshow series, filmed and produced on location in Beijing, China.

Now well into it's second season, Xiaogang Wei (小刚), director and host of this immensely popular series explains:

QAFBJ is a weekly online show which discusses the newest and hippest aspects of Chinese gay life in a relaxed and unrestrained way.

We send outpositive gay messages, presenting an entertaining exploration of the dynamic characteristicsof China's burgeoning gay culture and discussing the global gay movement.

The result is a hip, timely and fun program that does not spend time justifying homosexuality, instead choosing to appreciate its intricacies in- and outside of China.

Every week myself and co-host Liang Ma invite a guest to talk on a particular issue impacting the lives of gays in China."

With generous assistance from the Ford Foundation 福特基金会 and the Beijing Gender Health Education Institute (BGHEI) 北京纪安德咨询中心, the show features interviews with both local and expatriate gay folk in a mix of English and Chinese with subtitles in both languages.

In addition to studio conversations, each half-hour show features an on-location segment including interviews with experts and street surveys.

Premiered simultaniously on the big screen at two locations around town, this week's gay parenting episode "I HAVE TWO FATHERS" features this Sunday, 7 December as part of the QUEER SUNDAYS event in Sanlitun at The Boat and in western Beijing at the Aibai Culture & Education Center (ACEC).

QAFBJ host Xiaogang Wei and the lovely gay couples from this special episode will be in attendance at QUEER SUNDAYS this week to chatter, give advice and answer your questions over a cocktail or two.

If you can't make it out to one of these Sunday queer evenings, the bi-monthly episodes are accessible to both Chinese and global audiences via QAFBeijing channels on Youtube and Sina.

What better way to prepare for what is sure to be a memorable and interesting episode than from the creators of QAFBeijing themselves...

QAFBJ Ep17: "I HAVE TWO FATHERS"

"I have two Dads. They wash my clothes, they make me breakfast. They are also my Mums. If people ask me why I have two Dads, I just shrug…" ~These are the words of a new children's song from Holland.

Children are a timeless subject and a challenge that can take over your entire life.

They laugh and cry, and piss and crap just like us, except they can't control it.

They can rob us of the time to have a drink, and even stop us caring about our appearances.

They can make us cry, and make us painfully aware that we're already over the hill. But none of this stops even the most youthful and flamboyant of gays longing for a child.

There are many ways to do it: have one yourself, have someone else have one for you, adopt one, have one for someone else, get one at a sperm bank, ask a friend to lend a hand, and so on… gays can even turn having a kid into a variety show.

But ultimately everyone seems happy for a little karmic retribution for their wild days.

QAFBeijing has invited two gay couples, one who want to have a child, and another who are preparing for imminent fatherhood, onto the show.

All comrades considering children listen well, don't be too hasty. Don't make any decisions until you've seen this episode.
