Beijing Design Week starts this weekend with a series of exhibitions, performances, lectures, pop-up shops and workshops based mainly in 798 and Dashila’r, a small hutong near Tian’anmen Square. Check out the annual Nordic art and design festival Notch at Dashila’r, or listen to Zhou Xun tell stories of what special objects meant to her in the exhibition Silent Heroes, with accompanying art by superstar designer Ray Lei. Head over to 751 D Park, in the back of 798, to learn more about sustainable cities in a series of events, exhibitions and performances that include a mini cinema and book lounge. Throughout the week, UCCA will be holding Design Week-related lectures from a series of prominent designers, and the Beijing International Design Triennial opens up at the National Museum of China near the end of the week.
