Books to read for the May holiday?

Any favorites that you've read that are the epitome of eye candy? Some authors are better for certain environs/times of the year, but certainly some easy-to-get-your-hands-on titles are...

  • anything by Jane Austen (but particularly Pride and Prejudice)

  • Harry Potter / Golden Compass / Chronicles of Narnia (pretend that you're a kid again and are allowed to indulge in these great tales)

  • anything by Mo Yan (but I particularly recommend Republic of Wine, assuming that you don't enjoy eating strange meat-like substances)

and of course, if you can get your hands onto it... a copy of Vanity Fair or the New Yorker (even if out of date, they're both great reads!)

I'd love to hear what your favorite holiday reads are...?
