Shops in Nanluoguxiang come and go. Those that manage to stay have their own unique draw. Life Fabric certainly does. Mainly selling hand-designed bags and clothes in updated traditional Chinese styles, this small shop stocks some special designs you won’t find anywhere else. Check out their new four-piece bag collection (¥288), beautifully carved and printed blue and white porcelain, Peking opera masks, and panda and peony sets, which represent good luck and happiness. Another hot item is their army-green messenger bags (¥388). Life Fabric’s bags also feature Chinese slogans like “Working is not as good as farming.” Sweatshirts and hoodies (¥218-298) for women and men come in some eye-catching color combinations. Another find is their fabric file covers (¥118-158), perfect for protecting your iPad, as well as silk map-printed scarves, felt bags and purses. They will unveil a new T-shirt collection at the end of January.
