Comfortable and Chic: Where to Buy the City's Hottest Sweats

Sweats are no longer just for the gym and Sunday afternoons. The runways are alive with joggers, heels and blazers. This look was championed by Stella McCartney in her autumn/winter '07 show. Back then it looked amazing but left us wondering, How could I pull that off? The key? Sweat jumpers and loose-fitting t-shirts, loose leggings and elasticated ankles in grey jersey and other faded hues plus heels/bold patterns to doll it up. Here are our recommendations:

On top:

  • Sweat tops from h&m at RMB199. They have mid-length sleeves and a loose fit and come in a variety of worn-in colours.
  • American Apparel has a similar sweat top with a shorter body and longer sleeves—the “athletic grey” is our choice—for RMB398.
  • We couldn’t help but add the oversize tie-dye vest which will go nicely with all the grey, going for RMB354, also at American Apparel.
  • Mango has some wide-fitting white t-shirts which are currently in the sale, reduced to RMB80-100.
  • Finally, throw a blazer over a vest or t-shirt. We like the grey jersey blazer on sale in Zara for around RMB200.

Pants:

  • Look for the Genie Sweatpant at American Apparel for RMB365, or the Jumper pant for RMB420. Cinch with a leather belt to give a nice balance of casual and smart.

Dresses:

  • We found a grey jersey dress at uniqlo that is going on this list because it's so good. It has a straight, 60s shift shape with deep pockets and 3/4 length sleeves and it comes in royal blue, black and navy too. And only RMB149! The bargain of the day, it's easily dressed up with heels or left casual with flats. Feeling adventurous?
  • Team this dress with some Lacoste grey thigh-high ribbed socks (rolled down a bit) and some gorgeous 3-tone brown leather lace-up heels, also from Lacoste. Very, VERY Alexander Wang. Not cheap though, the socks cost RMB490 and the shoes RMB1,490, but we had to let you know.

Check out how the catwalks are doing it:

Cool post. I'm definitely going to check out that dress from Uniqlo, and probably the Mango and Zara sales, too. Looking forward to going shopping this vacation! Too bad American Apparel is SOO expensive in China that I can't bring myself to buy anything there...

Everyone I know says the exact same thing about American Apparel and it's true that forking out that much for a t-shirt hurts, but sometimes you can't beat a top that hangs perfectly.

我喜欢这篇博客, 让我有了更多新的想法,因为这些衣服不是那么容易搭配,并且让你看起来不像是想去跑步.我想我应该会去尝试你这些建议.,应该会不错!

Translation of above: She likes this post because it's not easy to mix and match this kind of clothing and it's especially hard to wear this stuff and not look like you're going for a run.
