We all love the Summer time. And how could we not? We can stay out late wearing vests and shorts, lie in the park and sit outside of restaurants getting tanned. Best of all, we can squeeze our neglected little feet into the seasons prettiest and most stylish footwear.

For the girls, this summer (like the last few) has gone gladiator mad. And let’s face it, every girl in town wants a pair of gladiators, despite the protests from their boyfriends that they make their girls’ calves look fat and unattractive. I had a 45-minute debate with my boyfriend over the positives and negatives of gladiator sandals on a recent trip to Singapore before he finally gave in and handed over his credit card.

There’s something about gladiators that is so very Kate Moss that makes them irresistible to us girls. However, Kate Moss’ legs do not come free with them, so some toning up before wearing them out is undoubtedly required.

The Beijing shoe shops are crammed full of some of the most enticingly beautiful summer footwear I have seen in years. A stroll through Steve Madden on my way to the supermarket and I ended up with 5 more items on my monthly wish list. Steve Madden’s shoes I have to say are a bit on the pricey side, but nevertheless very good investment buys. Afterall, good pair of sandals will see you through the summer in style, and hopefully the next summer also.

These are ideal for dressing up in the evening with a cute mini or maxi dress, or dressing down for a brunch with friends.
