Trains to and from northeast China were badly hit as of late. Northeast China got so cold that even the overhead power lines -- bang -- froze!
Hard hit: trains D8 and D22. Amazingly, they form the CRH series of express trains! If you were on a train anywhere between Shenyang and Qinhuangdao, Shenyang and Siping, or Shenyang and Dashiqiao, you felt it.
Power and even the toilets became distant memories. To let folks even breathe fresh air, doors had to be opened. Those were really hard 6 hours!
CRH has had a track history of the occasional incident. Your Beijingologist experienced it once on the express train between Beijing and Tianjin, when the train stopped at random three times!
