Dongsi Shitiao Subway Station Exit C Sealed
If you're headed to Exit C of Dongsi Shitiao Subway Station (you know -- the one closest to the Swissôtel), you might be in for a surprise. That very exit is now -- closed -- beginning today. The reason? "Refitting works underway."
But you know what? That's the Beijing Subway's way to say, "Hey -- get into the Subway in style! Try our brand-new Glass Cube Exit D, just across the bridge!" You'll be impressed (we hope) by the brand-new glass cube entrance, which was "big enough news" to make it even to the national mouthpiece People's Daily just days after it opened.
No idea how long the works will last, though. Then again, you might be so in love with the new Glass Cube that you could care less...

I did see those fancy new entrances. I was like, hey, that's a neat entrance, let's do that some day! Only now -- now that I've read your post -- I think I might want to give it a try a bit later!

Have you been to the Dongzhimen Subway lately? The other day they opened up the entrance on the Dongzhimen Wai side of the round-about. I walked down there hoping to get on a train only to find myself on the other side of DZM Wai even farther from the actual station entrance than when I started. I wasn't the only confused pedestrian, however. I was in a crowd of fellow subway seekers who had to turn around and tell those heading the wrong way, "Bu shi ditie!"
It does look like DZM will be getting fancy new glass entrances, too. yippee!!
