Elevated Elevator Madness

File this under: "When Bad Things Happen To Your Trusty Lifts"... Those in building 2 in Sifangjingyuan Yiqu (四方景园一区) are having an especially horrible time with the elevators. They have three in total -- more than enough to go around with (except for maybe during rush hour) but -- guess what: two of them are broken, and one's just hanging in there! Total hell for the residents: their whereabouts being limited to whether or not that single lift still hanging in there is in a good mood or not.

Needless to say, rush hour traffic easily is the pits, with folks waiting for ages to get a lift. The wait can get a bit out-of-this-world: 20 minutes with your hands glued to the call button could easily touch a nerve with the good folks at the Guinness Book of World Records.

Once you're in the elevator, however, whether or not you get a smooth ride is yet another question that only your faithful lift can answer -- or not. Reports have it that rides below the 10th floor seem less jittery, but that the lift has an unfortunate tendency to do the Macarena after it hits that magical nerve known as the 10th floor. The lift also seems to make weird noises, as it must be enjoying itself doing the up-and-down Los Del Rio hit of 1996.

So is there any way out of this madness? If the realty management company is to be believed, we'll be seeing the end of this elevated elevator madness as early as later this week. That's a promise that we're sure they won't want to break, by the way, given how folks are: already standing on touchy -- make that elevated -- feet.
