Still the Same Old Rule: One House Per Expat

If you want a house in Beijing, make it a big one (if you've the ¥¥¥): the 2007 rule — "one house, one expat" is still true today, and has just been "re-implemented".

We don't know if this is legal or not, but if you're married to another expat, you could purchase two houses (one under each name); strictly speaking, that might work. Best thing is to — and yep, we're cheating here — marry a PRC citizen and let her (or him) get you all your houses, as there appears to be no limits for PRC people.

It's not just one house per expat, by the way; it's one house as well if you're from Hong Kong or Macao, or from Taiwan. We kind of don't get it. These are the people with the cash, right?...
