Tianjin In Thirty Minutes
The tracks have been laid for trains that will zip by from the nation's capital to Tianjin, about 100 km southeast, in less than 30 minutes.
Yes, that's right. Speeds at up to 300 km/h will accompany those who need to make it either south to Tianjin or back up north to the capital in a hurry. Come rush hour, trains will run every 3 minutes. Think of it as your subway system, but on steroids and over a longer distance.
The speeding begins August 1, 2008. By then, trains will leave Beijing South, heading via Yizhuang, Yongle and Wuqing before finally arriving at Tianjin station.
No idea how much a ride will cost you -- although be prepared to pay for the speed and convenience.
