Too Many Guys, Not Enough Ladies?

The stats speak for themselves: At a sex ratio to 119.58:100, the sex ratio in China is cause for concern. Essentially meaning that there will be no enough males to find themselves a female partner when the time is ripe, the figure is the result of an ancient tradition -- favoring males over females.

Additionally, there are two marriage-related problems: the marriage crunch, where some men won't be able to find themselves a lady, and the presence of an excess number of singles. If the situation really gets out of hand, every 5th boy will be unable to find a lady to call his after 20 years!

Is there a way short of solving this problem, short of nixing the One-Child Policy? There is. If only more and more people could regard males and females as equals -- which comes down to being happy regardless of the child being a boy or a girl -- the problem would bear less of a bite. However, the damage has already been done for the time being: it's a part of history that people will just have to get along with.
