Un-Green Beijing: Only 1% of Recycled Water Goes To Your Car...

That's the kind of stuff that makes those souls at Zhengyi Road go what?...

Yep, the facts — and stats — are in: less than 1% of recycled water in the city of Beijing go to your car to clean the thing. That's with the price of water for non-residents going up — from CNY 41.50 per ton to CNY 61.68. That's a near 50% increase...

If your car wash costs are 25 yuan per go, that's you using recycled water. Give yourself a pat on the back — good boy (or good girl). Here's the un-green news: if your local carwash charges you only about CNY 10 to CNY 15, they're illegally using water which was supposed to go to residents — and they're sapping away the supply... not good...

Oh and by the way: those folks illegally using tap water might face a fine up to CNY 20,000. Not good...
