Someone has to be the smartest teen in town eligible for the best university scores can get you -- and in this case, Liu Haiting and Ning Shaoyang quality as the city's smartest, gaining 688 and 703 points, respectively, in the recently-concluded National College Entrance Exams. Their faces and words -- Ning's 2 cents that he didn't actually maximize his best and Liu basically at a loss to come to terms with these scores -- greet the reader of the Wanbao tonight, June 23, 2009.

Other headliners and a look at other pages tell of mobile police going into your community to extend your driver's license (they're extended once every 6 years, or if you've got one extended already, every 10 years), as well as a scary pic of total disorder on page 6. Wudaokou it is -- bikes, street vendors, chaos. Someone mind cleaning this place up? Thanks...

Today's story pick from your Beijingologist takes to you a little bit of North Korea in Beijing. The Kimjongilia -- named after North Korea's leader Kim Il-Sung (known in Juchelish as the "Great Leader") -- is now in Beijing. We have to say this, but we're sure Pyeongyang didn't slip in a few floral nukes in those flowers. Want to see how the amazingly plain-vanilla cult flowers look like? Page 4, bang, right in the middle.

Tomorrow will be another day of sun, clouds and unbearably hot temps. Official numbers give anything from 22°C for lows to 36°C - 37°C for highs, but the AccuWeather RealFeel max of 40°C to 41°C is probably closer to the truth. Your Beijingologist has a Subway day tomorrow as his car (and others trailing in 2 and 7 as in plates) are banned 07:00-20:00 inside (but not on) the 5th Ring Road.

A rare case of malware has taken the Beijingology.com page hostage, and the linked Twitter account @Beijingology seems to be hanging by its last legs as it suspends itself into thin air. Oh well, there's still hope: follow David on Twitter to find out more about the Jing -- especially if it's got something to do with the Beijing Subway!
