Count me in as an all-capital-ist... how much does a ride on the Maglev go for?
-
-
RMB 40 with a same-day airplane ticket. That's WAAAY down from the starting price of nearly double, and they seem to have hit the sweet spot -- ridership is up in the last year.

You guys have a MUCH faster system... I once heard that Beijing wanted a city-to-airport maglev (yes, maglev) too...
I think "our" CNY 25 doesn't matter if you have a flight ticket or not...

What if you just go from san yuan qiao to dongzhimen? Still 25RMB??
Also, the bus is cheaper, so why would people take the subway? To encourage less traffic shouldn't they make it less expensive?

The subway is faster, I'm guessing. The Shanghai Maglev also has an airport bus line stop right outside its station at Longyang Rd, but it still gets plenty of customers for the shorter travel time (7 minutes vs ~25 minutes), bigger seats, more convenient luggage storage, and the thrill of riding at up to 400 km/hr and see cars on the freeway whipping past you... backwards.

This is true! But I still wonder if one has to pay 25rmb to go from san yuan qiao to dongzhimen or if it's even possible to do that.

I'm guess YES... when the whole thing opens (in about a fortnight... yikes...) is when we'll know!

RMB 30 is approaching the Maglev price...
