Wanbao! Wanbao! May 5, 2008: Ticket Mania
We haven't heard much about down websites, which plagued Phase II of the Beijing Olympic ticket sales, so things went well when Phase III started this mroning. By 9:50 AM, however, all tickets for Liu Xiang's event (track and field) were sold out. Ms Zhu Ning, who waited outside the main Bank of China building since 10 PM, was first in grabbing her Olympic tickets. Cameras and microphones virtually surrounded the lady 95 days before the Games, making her Ms Big Pic on the 5th of the 5th.
Elsewhere on the front page, we've headlines that tell of a bus catching fire in Shanghai this morning at 9 PM (3 dead, 20 injured), and EV71 / Foot and Mouth Disease expanding to 472 cases. Mostly hit are kids.
Taking a look around the Wanbao, we also found:
• The Central Government's talking with the representatives of the Dalai Lama. (Page 2)
• Cleaning carts are now on Wangfujing Avenue. (Big pic, page 2)
• Anzhenmen Subway Station's nearly done; by June, the Dongzhimen Transport Hub will also be reality. (Pics, page 4)
• 1.5 million square meters of water -- that's how much the rain on May 3 added to the Miyun reservoir. It's still lacking a bit of water, though, when compared with how much was added in years gone by. (Page 4)
More and more clouds; 14°C - 26°C.
