Beijing Weekender :: Fri-Sun, Apr 25-27
Beijing of course is still up in arms over the cancellation of Midi next weekend, but that just means we can plan on getting out of town next weekend, right? Either way, it's best to make this weekend count. And, don't forget that this is the last weekend for CW Gourmet Month during which we can enjoy the city's best bites on the cheap.
FRIDAY
Start off the night at Frank's Place for the Woodie Alan Benefit for Steve Aldred. Afterwards, head over to 2 Kolegas, for the Tag Team Records Fiesta starring Arrows Made Of Desire, Lonely China Day an others. (It's also label helmsman Matt Kagler's birthday.) Afterwards, close out the night with either Japanese techno legend Takkyu Ishino at Tango or German trance troubadour Markus Schulz at Banana GT.
SATURDAY
Beijing indie legends Carsick Cars rock 2 Kolegas, Solid Vodka throws a Housexy party at Lan, and Acupuncture and Science of Sounds helm Beijing's Techno Union on The Boat. China also takes on Spain in the Fed Cup Semi-Finals during the day.
SUNDAY
Sunday, you might want to chill out with a Tea-Brewing Workshop at The Hutong or Elfman Ballet's Red Giselle at The Egg. Alternatively, you can keep the party going to Monday morning on the rooftop of Kokomo with Blink Events' Sundays On Top.
See? Beijing's still pretty cool. Even if we do have to wait another five months for Midi.
