Beijing Weekender :: Fri-Sun, Mar 28-30
The weekend is almost here, so it's time to get our extracurriculars in order. Here's your entertainment forecast for the weekend.
Friday
The weathermen are promising a chilly rain tomorrow night, so we suggest warming up after work with spicy hot pot at Sanlitun's Hai Di Lao. Here the excellent service includes manicures and shoe shines on the house to ensure you'll be looking your best for the evening. Afterwards, cross over to Obiwan for a taste of Indie Night at its new location. Then, just a five-minute cab ride away is Yugong Yishan, where the anti-lounge, digital duet of Hypo & EDH will be performing geek-pop with Modern Sky's Dead J and VJ ChenXiongWei (¥30). Wrap up the evening with a drink in Block 8's iSpace where the Acupuncture DJs will be throwing one of the "Shi" Electronic Primer Party.
Saturday
The sun is back out again, offering up perfect weather for the Kia X Games Asia 2008 Beijing Roadshow. Then, start your night at the Dali Courtyard in Gulou for a sumptuous taste of Yunnan. Head over when the sun is setting, and it may be warm enough to eat in the outdoor courtyard. Walk off the calories afterwards with a quiet walk to the bohemian confines of Jianghu Jiuba, where you'll catch a set by Beijing's original laowai blues brothers, Woodie Alan. Close off the night with Live Jazz and Wine Night at La Baie des Anges in Hou Hai.
Sunday
Wake up with the Sunday Chill Session at Song, where you can catch Song's new Sunday brunch menu and nurse a mimosa while DJs spin downtempo and chillout. That evening, bring the weekend to a close with a set from Quatrrology Jazz Quartet at East Shore Live Jazz Café (reservations recommended).
