Chinese Food vs Weekend Getaways vs Commuting—You Make the Call!

We have three great Cover Story ideas for our March 27-April 9 issue that we’re bandying back and forth in the office and we need YOUR HELP to decide.

Chinese Food CW answers that burning question: What’s the BEST Chinese food in Beijing? Where do Beijingers like to eat? What’s the neighborhood restaurant Chinese people can’t do without? Where do they splurge for a sumptuous feast? There’s more than gongbaojiding and roujiamo in this town!

Overnight It April 4 is the start of a three day weekend! CW makes the art of the overnight trip EASY. Where to rent that cabin on the lake, where to find a Ming-era village, where to stay on the top of a mountain. PLUS how to rent a car, how to find a driver, great places for mom dad and the kids.

Commuting CW takes a look at six different paths between home and work traversed by six very different people. By bike, by cab, by private driver, by bus, by subway and by moped. You’ll be amazed at what we found out about how people fill the time while stuck in interminable Beijing traffic. PLUS we’ll tell you how new subway lines and improved transport hubs will make your commuting life BETTER by July.

So, what do you think? What do you REALLY want to read in a Beijing magazine? YOU be the editor for a change! If you vote for the eventual winner (or suggest some other idea that blows us away) you’ll win a limited edition CW beer coolie!

I'd pick "Overnight It" because it's going to be the first 3-day weekend (the only in April) after the new holiday arrangement started this year (and a few more to come in latter months...) We Beijinger will need CW's help to give us some inspiration on how to utilize the shorter 3-day weekend holidays (vs. the long holiday...) Plus, you can do the other two themes anytime in the year... I look forward to the next issue!
