One of the capabilities of the City Weekend website is that users can contact other users but nothing is worse on a social site than Marketing Spammers. Imagine my surprise the other week week when I received this in my email box:

"From: priscilla101 no-reply@cityweekend.com.cn Date: Nov 25, 2007 10:50 PM Subject: [City Weekend] Hello, To: XXX@ringierasia.com

priscilla101 has sent you a message via the City Weekend website!

Hello, My name is priscilla.I am a lovely and caring girl.I love to establish a relationship with you.Please reply me through my private e-mail box;(priscilla_tit@yahoo.com)l promise you when l see your note l will send you my pictures, Thanks and am waiting to hear from you soonest."

After a little asking around, I found that this message was sent to a slew of mostly males, or in my case, females with male names (it's a girl's name in Chinese!).

Curious I got one of my male friends to email her back to see exactly what this girl was about. So he wrote this email:

"Hi Priscilla,

I got your email through one of my accounts on the City Weekend website:

priscilla101 has sent you a message via the City Weekend website!

Hello, My name is priscilla.I am a lovely and caring girl.I love to establish a relationship with you.Please reply me through my private e-mail box;(priscillatit@yahoo.com) l promise you when l see your note l will send you my pictures, Thanks and am waiting to hear from you soonest,_

I would love to hear more about you ;)

Please send me more information.

Whereupon we got this email in response:

ANNND you get the picture. So if anyone else gets an email from Priscilla, City Weekend apologizes. The user has henceforth been banned and will not bother you anymore. And by the way, if you're curious. She did send pictures. And they weren't all that.
