The past couple of weeks in Beijing have seen haze so soupy thick it's positively fog-esque. For those who have been wondering if this heralds a reverse trend in the cleaning of Beijing's air - well, it does.

Media outlets such as the New York Times and the Christian Science Monitor have been reporting a dip in urban air quality in China. And in case you think this may be a case of foreign-media China-bashing, Xinhua admits it too. Looks like it's time to break out those urban masks for bike rides in the city this summer.
