The pub quiz has caught on like wildfire in Beijing, and the city’s bars are making this quintessentially British tradition their own. There’s a quiz for every weekday where you can work your brain—and boozing—muscle while showing off your smarts.

Serious quiz players head to The Bookworm’s weekly Monday event. Beginning at 8pm, teams of up to six hash out questions on sports, music, geography, arts and literature, world events, science and nature, and general knowledge. Entry fee is ¥5 per team.

Stumble Inn holds a quiz night every Tuesday at 9pm, where four-person teams compete for free beer from Sanlitun Village’s resident pub. Get there early to make up your team.

Not feeling Sanlitun on a weeknight? Head to Black Sun at Chaoyang Park West Gate and play for an assortment of alcoholic prizes, beginning at 9pm. There’s no limit on team members here, and no cover to play.

On Wednesdays, compete for your booze at Paddy O’Shea’s, where entry is free but you’d better arrive well before the 8:30pm start time to nab a table. Or celebrate hump day the collegiate way with a laid-back quiz at Lush in Wudaokou, beginning at 8pm. There’s no cover and no limit on numbers per team.

Kro’s Nest is the place to be Thursdays for their rollicking quiz night at the Sanyuanqiao branch. Teams of six gather around 8:15pm. to play through five rounds that include images, music and a combination category of current events, Beijing life and general knowledge. Clutch prizes are up for grabs, including shots, imported beers and Kro’s appetizers. The winning team takes home a bottle of booze. Email krosnesttrivia@gmail.com to be sent a "beer question" every week. The best answer gets a free draft.

Folks in Shunyi can get a dose of Thursday trivia night at Irish pub the Green Cap. This one’s not so much competitive as it is an excuse to enjoy a few pints with friends. Teams of six compete for drinks, shots, and goodies from local businesses. Arrive at 7:30pm to get settled before the games begin.
