China World's Exhibition Centre was full of little treasures over the weekend, as Max and I discovered at this year's Expat Show.
The little fella headed straight for the toys, Transformers and Lego to be exact. And, with discounted Bionicles bagged up in the sale box at 30 RMB a pop, you couldn't go wrong. Thanks, Kids Land.
The whooping and cheering of the mini Ronaldo/Ronaldinhos at the Club Football stand got us back on our feet again as we marvelled at the goalscoring feats.
Refreshments came in the form of a blue 'ocean' coloured ice cream courtesy of Romana and a slightly healthier fresh fruit juice from IF.
The tannoy announcement informed us it was time to take in a few shows.
First a puppet show -- and puppet making -- at the International Children's Kindergarten and then a lively, Chinese rendition of 'Snow White and the Seven Dwarves' from the China Culture Centre.
While Max settled in, I was presented with a handful of 50% discount vouchers for treatments at Dragonfly and enjoyed a much-needed complimentary manicure.
After viewing the beautifully shot posters and picking up a useful notebook at Les Enfants de Madaifu, I headed off to check out the stylish, handmade jewellery at Starfish Project.
A delicious set yoghurt at Green Yard Organic Dairy later, I picked up some new reading material at The Economist and then made my discovery of the day, thanks to Alia Malik at Shangrila Botanicals.
Max has sensitive skin so we have to be careful what we use at bath time. Luckily, Alia’s 100% natural, extra mild and fragrance free baby soap does the trick. Unlike many soaps of this kind, it lathers up beautifully and as it doesn't contain essential oils, it doesn't leave the little chap all itchy.
And for me? Well, I'm a recent convert to the Magnolia Walnut Natural Soap, which also contains Vitamin E and has the most addictive odour.
As a portion of proceeds from Shangrila Botanicals purchases go to community development projects in Shangrila, Yunnan Province, both your body and your conscience are left clean.
