It might be too soon to think winter, but that's not stopping MellowParks.cn from screening two Chinese snowboarding movies this Saturday from 7pm. There's going to be free beer and chuan'r (a valid reason to show up anywhere, we think) and chances to win snowboarding gear.
The main event will be the worldwide premier of "Chuan'r, a full-length snowboard movie by Mellow Parks. We don't know exactly what connection that has to the plot, but we do know the film is full of awesome snowboarding tricks that makes us (almost) ready for winter. Here's the trailer:
The second film premiering tomorrow is the documentary-style "Sleeping Giants" that records the talents of Chinese snowboarders at the Nanshan Open Snowboard competition. Produced by Blickinsfreie, they finally come to China to train their lens on the local snowboarding scene:

And besides free beer and chuan'r, these guys are throwing a real party with a Skullcandy DJ at the helm keeping the dance floor going until the wee hours. And other than a stack of snowboarding stuff to win (like Nike Vapen snowboard boots and a pair of Electric EG2 goggles) they're also going to give away free copies of the Chuan'r DVD jam-packed with loads of extra footage.
The only hitch? It's way out in Cuigezhuang. You can get there by subway, however, and they promise signage so you can make your way to the venue in under ten minutes. If you want to grab a taxi or (eek!) drive yourself, check out their website for a map to the venue.
