Music fans in China can finally book their plane tickets to Beijing and make hotel reservations because Modern Sky Records has officially announced the lineup for the 2009 Modern Sky Festival.
As previously reported, punk pioneers The Buzzcocks will be headlining this year's 4-day festival in Chaoyang Park, which is placing an emphasis on international artists.
In addition to the aforementioned 'Cocks, Modern Sky has now announced that Sunderland post-punk quartet The Futureheads will be headlining the final day of the festival, along with Brighton indie rock outfit British Sea Power.
Modern Sky 2009's main stage will also feature performances by Aussie comedic, electro-punks Regurgitator, who will be making their second run in China, Sweden's The (International) Noise Conspiracy, Brooklyn dance punks Radio 4 and legendary Osaka, Japan female punk trio Shonen Knife.
This year's festival also sees Modern Sky collaborating with Diesel by becoming an official partner of the denim brand's Diesel:U:Music project. As part of the world-wide campaign, Heart's Revolution and Terror Pigeon Dance Revolt! will be swinging by Beijing on their mission to pimp sweet sweet dungarees.
Aside from this wealth of international talent, Modern Sky will be bringing the usual suspects along for the ride. Queen Sea Big Shark, Hedgehog and Casino Demon (all of whom are currently on tour in the US ), along with Re-TROS, New Pants, Steely Heart, Fire Balloon, Second Hand Rose, and 55 bands in total will play what is shaping up to be China's biggest music festival to date.
There is a noticeable absence of bands from the Maybe Mars roster, save P.K. 14, but Modern Sky 2009 is shaping up to be a thing of legend.
