Last night, a select group of Beer Jing passport holders got to sample a vast selection of international craft beers at the first City Weekend-Dxcel Partners Beer Jing Party held at Danger Doyle‘s.

Here were our five favorites of the night:

  • elBulli Estrella: Spain perfects a luscious Belgian-style weisse without any yeasty aftertaste. This is our idea of a perfect beer.
  • Young's Double Chocolate Stout: This one poured from the bottle like maple syrup--and the taste was not far off. Delicious and packs a real punch.
  • Acme Pale Ale: Silver medalist for the last fourteen years at the Wolrd Beer Championships, Acme Pale Ale blends British and American malts to create a smooth and easy beer. We loved its bitter bite.
  • Redback: Named after the lethal Australied redback spider, this wheat beer, brewed with both malted hops and malted barley, has a subtle bitter taste and creamy texture. We were shocked to find a beer with this much taste could go down so smoothly.
  • St. Peter's Suffolk Gold: Instantly recognizable by its unique flask-shaped bottle, St. Peter's Suffolk Gold is a full-bodied bitter ale with a long lasting aroma. Some of us hated this; some loved it--but we all agreed that there isn't another beer out there that tastes quite like this one.
