FRIDAY
The Piano aux Jacobins Festival kicks off at The Forbidden City Concert Hall with a performance by pianist David Greilsammer, dubbed "Greatest surprise of the Mozart year" by Le Monde. Royal Hartigan, the percussionist behind Blood, Drum, Spirit Asian, African and Native American musical traditions into his performance at OT Lounge. The SUBS play MAO Live. And, Kazakh multi-instrumentalist Mamuer plays an open-air performance at The Stone Boat.
SATURDAY
The 2 Kolegas Folk Music and Art Festival kicks off with performances by Mongolian folk rockers Hanggai, folk stalwarts Buyi and experimental folk star Xiao He. The Piano aux Jacobins Festival continues with a performance from Philippe Bianconi. Underground, hip-hop turntablist D-Styles, formerly of the Invisibl Scratch Pickles, plays Song. DJ Gotama's Beijing Underground brings psy-trance back to Beijing for an all night party at V.V. Club. And, Berlin-based tech-electro duo Codec & Flexor descends on i-Ultra Lounge.
SUNDAY
The weekend comes to a close with an afternoon of folk music for day two of
The 2 Kolegas Folk Music and Art Festival. In the evening, The Emperor Hotel hosts a Dragon Boat Festival Dinner. And, Lonely China Day's plays an epic solo set at MAO Live.
