Every Thursday, the Beijing Weekender distills City Weekend's database of nightlife events down to the weekend parties, concerts and live shows that you simply can't miss.

FRIDAY

There's no lack of musical offerings this Friday night, with the much-talked about last ever for real this time show at D-22, with Mongolian band Mohanik, who are genuinely awesome. There's also a charity show at Yugong Yishan, with Long Shen Dao and Yaksa performing as well as some auctions of various musicians' possessions. The proceeds go to retired soldiers. Metalheads should get to Temple this Friday the 13th, for the Metal Up Your Ass show with Bad Mamasan and more. In terms of parties, Wasabi Sound is turning two years old, and they're celebrating with old friends and new at Lantern. The crew at Science of Sounds is also putting on a showcase of some of their own and best from around the world, with Barcelona's M. Ross and Hong Kong's Wendy Wenn taking the decks.

SATURDAY

Keeping with the party theme, there's plenty to keep you occupied this Saturday. The folks at Haze are bringing together some overseas acts with Take Me To Belgium, Vol. 1, their first stab at educating the people of Beijing about the Belgian electronic scene. Plus, we've heard there'll be free Vedett, chocolate and designer sunnies for the first 100 people, so you might want to get there early for a change. Also on Saturday is the year's first edition of The Drop Vol. 13 feat Doshy, who is a Guangzhou-based German dubstep artist who's been to Beijing many times. You can also get your dance on at School Bar, where 87FEI87: Downhill SKWEEE Team Edition is going on, bringing you some of that underground dance sound known as skweee. As for music, there isn't much noteworthy going on, except for an intriguing show at 2 Kolegas, Sub Jam's MIJI No. 7 featuring Ronin and Tea Rockers. Sub Jam is known for its experimental slant, and Tea Rockers is a collective of artists who all play off-beat instruments. It should be an interesting night.

SUNDAY

As per usual, Sunday is a quiet night for nightlife, but there are two mellow shows going on in the Gulou area worth checking out. Pop pianist Little C takes the tiny stage at Jiangjinjiu Bar, and quirky folk artist Sunny Song defies the season with his summery sound at Jianghu Jiuba. Either would be a nice choice to chill out with on the last day of the weekend.
