Comprised of top Australian DJ Andy Van, producer Kam Denny and vocalist/fashionista Cassie Van, Australian electro outfit VANDALISM has been cranking out top-notch remixes and original joints, and is rapidly becoming the face of Australian dance music. We chatted with Andy Van in advance of VANDALISM scandalizing Beijing at (Editor's note: Venue updated) GT Banana, this Friday, May 22nd.

What are your thoughts on performing in Beijing?
We are all very excited, we've never performed in Beijing, so we are really looking forward to doing a gig there. It's gonna be an awesome gig!

How did you first come together?
Kam & I first started working together 5 years ago on a bootleg of Blur's "Girls & Boys" and Vandalism started there. Then, Cassie came on board as our Singer/Songwriter 4 years ago.

How would you describe your sound?
Quite simply as hands-in-the-air, main-room, electro & house.

You are one of the hottest electro outfits out there right now. Naysayers might argue that electro is just a passing fad. How do you think your music will stand the test of time?
All music evolves, including electro, The same sound that is around today won't be around in a year's time. It may not even be called electro, but it will be in another form, and, for sure, we'll be producing it.

Making electronic music can often be a solo endeavor. How do you think teaming up in a band enhances the kind of music you make?
Each of us brings different skills & ideas to the table, which help make our sound what it is, which has really worked for us.

What's your favorite part about performing together?
The energy and vibe! Kam & I are into slightly different music, so we each bring rockin' music to the gigs while Cassie is always blowing us away with her crazy performances & outfits!
