After rocking Acupuncture's Intro Fest last summer, London-based minimal tech duo Italoboyz return to Beijing tonight. This time, they're hooking up with Acupuncture's Terry Tu and Elvis.T, both of whom are releasing their remix of the Italoboyz' track "Chinese." We caught up with the Italoboyz' DJ Marco Donato via email ahead of the show.

Mothership invited Acupuncture DJs Elvis.T and Terry Tu to remix two of your tracks. What stands out to you about what each did with “Chinese”?
We like the remixes because are simple but very nice, they are definitely a quality product.

What’s your own process for creating a remix?
There’s not really much of a process, for the simple reason that we don’t do remixes. We did only one by far, but in general we try to avoid remixes. Maybe we will do more in the future, but for now this is our decision.

How are the challenges of producing a quality remix different from producing an original track?
I bet that when you work on some music with a strong idea behind, it might not end up being a big seller track or something that everyone would play, but definitely something worth it.

What was your experience playing INTRO Festival in Beijing last summer?
It was one of the highlights of the year. It was really nice, beyond our best expectations and an enormous honor being part of it. We would love to do it again for sure!

What do you aim to do with a set at a small club like Lantern that’s different from a large festival like INTRO?
We are used to play both big festival and small underground clubs. It’s different, but in the end is the same, as long as you connect with the situation and the people, the rest comes automatically. It’s actually the real magic of djing, creating the soundtrack of the moment…

Any special plans for your set at Lantern or your return to China? I think one of you may be celebrating a birthday?
Fede’s birthday, yes. As I said above, we’ll see what’s the situation like, and we will tailor the perfect music for the party.
