“It was one of the highlights of last year,” says DJ Marco Donato of Italoboyz about Acupuncture Records’ 2009 Intro Festival. Though famously cut short, last year’s outdoor electronic music festival led to new collaborations between Acupuncture and Italoboyz, including two new remixes of the Italoboyz track “Chinese” by Acupuncture’s Elvis.T and Terry Tu, as well as an upcoming party at Lantern on Friday, March 19.

Released on the Boyz’ latest album, “Chinese” is emblematic of the playful, minimal techno that has made the duo a top act on the international underground dance circuit. The title and sound both provide perfect fodder for Acupuncture Records, which is co-releasing the remixes with the Italoboyz’ Mothership label. Adds Donato, “The remixes are simple and nice, definitely a quality product.”

The Beijing show brings the London-based duo to Lantern, a far different arena than last year’s set in an open field in 798. “We’re used to playing both big festivals and small underground clubs,” says Donato. “As long as you connect with the situation and the people, the rest comes automatically. That’s the real magic of DJing: creating the soundtrack of the moment.”

Joining the Boyz behind the decks are Acupuncture’s own DJs Elvis.T and Terry Tu, who will be debuting their “Chinese” remixes at the party. Donato adds that that the gig is also the birthday party for his partner Fede, and Acupuncture has undoubtedly crafted the perfect birthday song.
