This weekend, White Rabbit is hosting a two-day mini-festival entitled "DJs Don't Dance." Featuring eight DJs over the two nights of the May holiday, the festival spotlights local -- and a soon-to-be local -- artists, and offers plenty in the way of toe-tapping beats. Since dance music is all about, well, dancing, the idea of a non-dancing DJ -- and there are plenty of them -- proves quite the enigma. We asked some of the festivals participants to weigh in on why it is that DJs don't dance.

Why do you think it is that so many DJs really don't dance?
Maxime Bureau: I dance all the time though! But if they don't, it must be cause they are concentrating on their DJ performance, trying not to screw up!
Jonas Rasch: That's why they became DJs in the first place - so that they wouldn't have to dance and still look busy at a party.
Huang Weiwei: Because of personality problems.
Ben Huang: I don't think it is right that most DJs don't dance; I've seen a lot DJs that dance. I will dance if i am in the moon and the music is good. Some DJs don't dance. I think they are shy, but I am sure they are dancing in their brain. Some DJs are "too cool" (laughs).
Weng Weng: It's for different reasons. Maybe they feel tired; maybe they want to listen another DJ's playing.

Do you consider yourself a "dancing DJ"?
Maxime Bureau: Yup! Only when I'm not pissed off about something...
Jonas Rasch: I am definitely am a dancing DJ ... after a couple of beers.
Huang Weiwei: No.
Ben Huang: I am not really dancing DJ. I love to dance, but when I'm mixing I am too busy. When I am totally into the music, I will move a little, and when other DJs plays good music also, dancing comes really naturally; it's all because of music.
Weng Weng: I like dancing, but I need good DJ set, one that will let me get excited.

What's your favorite dance move?
Maxime Bureau: I don't have any, but when I feel the groove (pretty rare in Beijing) my body just twists, shakes & bakes!
Jonas Rasch: My moves are not known by name. (wink)
Huang Weiwei: Hands open jump!
Ben Huang: Just feel relaxed and follow the beats. I move whatever feels good, as decided by the music and vibe.
Weng Weng: Anything minimal techno related.
