If you haven’t heard of Wasabi Sound yet, now is the perfect time to prick up your ears. Wasabi Sound was founded two years ago by three people who have lived and breathed the EDM scene for years: Eric Lee, a local DJ who worked at Clubzone.cn at the time and was the manager of ACID JAZZ, China’s first acid music group; ShenYue, who is best known for his trademark tech house style DJ sets; and Sean.C, a DJ from Taipei who moved to Beijing in 2002 and won the Pioneer Pro DJ China championships in 2009. With the help of VJ ACID, they formed an unstoppable party team dedicated to putting on electronic parties not only musically sophisticated but crowd-pleasing.

And that’s just what they did. After a big-bang start in January 2010 at Lantern Club, they formed a close relationship with Mo Lounge and collaborated with local and international DJs to bring their new concept into fruition. Over the last two years, they’ve built up a stable of regular parties and have hosted some big one-off events including a wild beach bikini party last September.

Fittingly, this party to celebrate two years of awesome parties is held right back where they started at Lantern Club. With the founders in the lineup, they’ve also invited their friends YangBing, OuYang and Johnnyz, all big names in the local electronic scene. It’s going to be epic. Tickets are ¥60, but you can win a pair at the City Weekend website.
