According to this Sohu report, police raided four high-end clubs for prostitution on Tuesday night, including Passion and Regal Club.
The two clubs were closed for six-months due to prostitution. 557 consort girls (陪侍小姐) were arrested, including 199 at Regal Club alone.
Since April, Beijing police claim to have checked more than 400 night clubs, KTVs, hair salons and spas.
While some may be wary of reports of a crackdown, this one seems to be having a real effect. A drive down Chunxiu Lu on Sunday night showed that all the brothels on the street had been shut down.
Is Beijing turning around or is this just a show of restraint for foreign media in town for the World Expo? If we're to judge from the Olympic experience, it would seem that these places will re-open and Sanlitun will fill again with "lady bar" touts soon enough.

It seems all the barbershops on Chunxiu Lu are brothels. I would estimate there are at least 10 brothels on the one block of Chunxiu Lu between Gongti and Dongzhimen.

The pink lights/Christmas lights and girls sitting around looking bored all the time should tip you off... But seriously, I never noticed Chunxiu Lu until a guy friend pointed it out.

Beijing is not changing, its just that the police commissioner did and anytime that they get a promotion they spend at least 3-6 month making everyone fear them. That why they have him the big famous clubs who have plenty of connections but now there of no use. Next will be the night clubs .BUT Don't worry in a couple months things will be back to business as usual.

I'm probably sounding really naive but...are there alot of brothels on Chunxiu lu??? That's my hood!!! That being said, I guess I've never really observed anyone getting their hair cut in some of these places.
