Top 8 Party Spots for 08.08.08

We are now just four days away from the Opening Ceremonies, but with tickets going for more than U.S.D. $30,000, we know few readers will be watching Zhang Yimou’s song-and-dance tour of Chinese culture from inside the Bird’s Nest. To help you figure out just where you want to be when you finally bow before your new Fuwa leaders, we present our Top 8 Countdown of the Best Party Spots for 08.08.08:

8. Party with the People
Nothing says “Zhongguo, Jia You!” quite like tens of thousands of people waving and screaming from Tiananmen Square. Those who want a taste of the local experience will be sure to join the throngs of Team China fans as fireworks ignite over the Forbidden City.

7. Holland Heineken House
The legend of the Holland Heineken House seems to grow greater every four years. In Athens, it was party central with Dutch spinster DJ Tiesto making a special guest appearance for his countrymen. This year, there's no telling who might show up, but as the largest hospitality house in Beijing located inside the massive Agricultural Exhibition Hall, it is the top destination for Olympic party-seekers. Entry at night is restricted, so make sure you go with a crowd of Orangemen.

6. One Night in Beijing at Club P
Club P opened last weekend, and it still kind of looked like Tango, but that doesn’t mean we won’t stop by for their Opening Ceremonies party to check out the out-of-town VIPs, especially considering P’s convenient location underneath the Yen party. Expect DJs Une, Danny, Chozie and Tom Mannix behind the decks.

5. Opening Ceremonies Night at Bed Bar
Escape the hustle and bustle of the Olympic tourist crowds and head to Beijing's chillest hutong hideaway, Bed Bar. Instead of the usual low-key chill-out music, Bed will be turning on the projectors and pumping up the volume on the Olympic Opening Ceremony, while hutong hipsters sip well mixed cocktails and indulge in a special grill dinner menu.

4. Torch Party at 1949
1949-The Hidden City launches the Olympic Games with its Torch Party, a full evening of festivities, which include a cocktail reception, fine international and Chinese cuisine and a broadcast of the Opening Ceremony.

3. Yin Bar’s Opening Ceremony Party
With a rooftop deck overlooking the Forbidden City, Yin Bar is the ideal location for viewing the 08-08-08 fireworks spectacular. We’re hoping that one of our friends has reserved the rooftop Jacuzzi.

2. CW Viewing Party at All Star
All Star, Solana’s gargantuan, state-of-the-art sports bar, turns on its 65 plasma screens with what will most certainly be the most immersive venue for watching the Opening Ceremony and all the Games this Olympics. It’s all the first of City Weekend’s viewing parties, where the CW team will go to enjoy a range of food and drink specials, as well as a great crowd.

1. Yen 08-08-08 at Star Live
Yen parties are Beijing's best attended, underground dance parties, and expectations are sky high for their Olympic bash, which will bring out Beijing's best local DJs and live electronic artists, from Dio to Mickey Zhang. Plus, it’s the first Yen party to ever begin at 8:08pm. No matter where we begin our night, we know this is where it’s going to end.

WHAAAT? Club Bud is the place to be! 360 degree TV screens, a pool, and celebrities galore. That's where I'll be!

I think any rooftop bar will be pretty cool! Q bar, Kokomos, Bar Blue, etc....

Unless you're in the Bird's Nest, I can't imagine anything cooler than being in Tiananmen Square to watch the fireworks over the Forbidden City. Come on, Blake, how much is Star Live paying you to plug them in at "number one?"

Only one problem, it's unclear whether anyone without official connections will actually be allowed in Tian'anmen Square that night.
