Milkshakes are tasty, fun and great for all ages. It used to be almost impossible to get a good one in Beijing, and an order of a "strawberry milkshake" would result in a glass of milk with a little strawberry syrup mixed in. Thankfully things have changed.

Frothy Fun

No other milkshake tastes quite like All-Star's. With a higher milk-to-ice cream ratio, these are smoothest and frothiest in the ‘Jing. Try the “Miss Strawberry Shortcake,” made with fresh strawberries and almonds. Like all of All-Star’s delicious shakes (all ¥42), you can get it with a shot of liqueur or rum (¥56), making it one of the thickest, sweetest dessert cocktails around. The Oreo cookie and banana-berry supreme shakes are two of our other favorites.

American Classic

With some of the best pancakes in Beijing, it’s no surprise that Grandma’s Kitchen also delivers on another American classic. Their tall milkshakes are always whipped up flawlessly. The vanilla, strawberry, banana and chocolate flavors are all ¥22, the raspberry is ¥28 and the espresso and Bailey’s shakes are ¥38. The fat straws that they’re served with are a necessity as you try to make your way through this deliciously thick drink.

Peanut Butter Delish

American Steak & Eggs is a long-time family favorite and a staple American-style diner in Beijing. Steak & Eggs serves delicious breakfast and lunch eats, as well as delectable milkshakes. The chocolate, strawberry and vanilla shakes are all ¥22, but it’s the peanut butter shakes that are Steak & Eggs’ claim to fame. Choose between vanilla peanut butter and chocolate peanut butter, which are both ¥27. With locations in Jianguomen Wai, Yizhuang and Financial Street, it’s a convenient stop for a quick cool treat on Beijing’s hot summer days.
