Ever had a hankering for a good meal but either didn’t feel like braving the cold to visit one of Beijing’s fine dining establishments? Now you can have five-star meal and service delivered straight to your kitchen. Culinary venues around the city offer in-home services including everything from cooking to clean-up.


Chef Wang will cook up a storm of homestyle Chinese dishes in your kitchen for ¥400 for 10 people. Add ¥40 per extra person. Book at least a week in advance, though be warned he is in high demand so the earlier you book the better. Mandarin only.

The Hutong chefs cater private events, and accommodate everything from intimate dinner parties to bigger bashes. Choose from menus developed around gourmet and contemporary Chinese, Southeast Asian, Indian or Pakistani cuisines. The style of dishes depends on the number of people being served. Prices range from ¥200-500 per person, depending on menu and the level of service requested (i.e. if you need waiters to serve the food throughout the event). Reservations should be made at least two weeks in advance.

Flo Prestige, the catering arm of Brasserie Flo, will also bring their exquisite cooking techniques right to your kitchen. Customers create their own menus, or select from Brasserie Flo’s offerings. Flo chefs bring their own equipment, including an oven, cooking utensils and the food. They provide beginning-to-end service, including clean-up, so you won’t have to lift a finger. Book at least four days in advance. Prices start at ¥300 per person.

Enjoy some delectable sushi from the comfort of your own home with the culinary stylings of chef Wang Jian Dong (133-9161-2522). You create your own sushi menu, and he’ll bring all the necessary ingredients. You’ll need to provide pans, plates, glasses and other basic kitchen equipment, but he handles any special utensils. He also handles after dinner clean-up duty. There’s a three-day minimum for making reservations, but try to book at least a week in advance. Wang doesn’t speak English, so use your Mandarin to reserve him for the night.
