Edible Arrangements, which just recently launched in China, claims to be a famous American company. We can’t say we’d ever heard of them Stateside, but that doesn’t change how excited we are about now having these crazy fruit arrangements in Beijing. The company specializes in creating beautiful “bouquets” of fruit. They’re way more fun than getting flowers, healthier than chocolates, and far more exciting than a plain old fruit basket. The arrangements range from ¥125 all the way to ¥1,066 for a mammoth bouquet that could feed an entire office. We tried the more modest ¥599 bouquet, which comes with creative “flowers” made out of pineapple slices and orbs of melon, skewers of grapes and strawberries, and chocolate-covered strawberries and slices of granny smith apple. The fruit is extremely fresh, and the chocolate is really top quality. The unique combination of sweet, dark chocolate and tart green apple is wildly popular, and the more classic chocolate-dipped strawberries hit the spot. These cornucopias of fruit are perfect gifts for Valentine’s Day.
