While I'm all for wandering the streets of Beijing in search of hidden gems, when it comes to late-night (read: post-club) dining, the last thing I want to do is search in vain for a satisfying snack. Luckily, there are a plethora of options to satisfy midnight or later munchies, and to refuel for more fun.
Despite being newly opened, All-Star has already reported some serious after-party action due to its connection to nearby hotspot Bling and proximity to Beijing's pre-eminent pre-dawn spot White Rabbit. Kristen Lum, All-Star's Director of Communications, has plenty of stories to tell about the midnight madness that has already happened during this eatery's short tenure. "During the Olympics, Evander Holyfield came to Bling on a few different nights and every time he was hungry, he wanted a burger. Once he got them, he took his two burgers straight up to Bling, and with one burger in each hand, he danced juggling both." I didn't catch Mr. Real Deal himself walking it out with patty in paw, but ¥50 2am-5am burger and 5am-8am breakfast specials from a Michelin-starred chef are reason enough for me to stop by.
While I find the price tag a bit off-putting with individual burgers going for more than ¥100, the sleek and sexy ambiance of 25 Degrees is a perfect cap to a night of bottle service and VIP rooms on the Gongti 100 strip. Efficient partiers will also agree that their Guinness milkshake packs a nice 1-2 punch of alcohol and sugar. For something more rowdy, and excellent people-watching, Taiwanese chain Bellagio on Gongti Xilu is always packed with ice shaving desert eating clubbers from neighbors Richy, Coco Banana, Angel and Destination. Serious night owls beware though, as Bellagio shuts its doors at 5am.
For nights when my Sanlitun ways have left me with an empty wallet in addition to a craving for calories, there's always the 24-hr Malan Noodle shop conveniently located a block north of Workers Stadium in between Chunxiu Lu and Xindong Lu.12 kuai chaomian never tasted so good.
