The Thai-style grilled fish (¥58) at this popular Yunnan folk restaurant is cooked to perfection, complemented well by the dry rub that comes on the side.

For a more authentic Yunnan taste, try the sweet Dali cheese rolls (¥38)—goat cheese smothered in sugar. The crisped beans with pickled vegetables (¥28) and the “Lost Heaven characteristic sauced meat” (¥32) are a delicious way to sample the spicier side of Yunnan.

If it’s too hot, get your hands on some of the mouth-watering homemade mijiu (rice wine) for ¥38/pitcher. The view of the bell tower from Lost Heaven’s second floor deck does well to justify its name.
