New Eats: Oh! Marco Has Issues with Identity, Availability

In a previous incarnation, Oh! Marco was a lightly patroned café-cum-wine cellar. Now, it’s a somewhat more spacious café-cum-wine cellar. Unfortunately, it still seems to be having some identity issues, as a gander at the menu reveals French food, Chinese food and tapas cohabitating the same pages. While we had our doubts about the kitchen’s ability to juggle such a diverse range of cuisines, problems with availability made it hard to come to a conclusion. We were told not once, not twice, but four times that the item we wanted had already been sold out that day (we sat down a little before 1pm). The dishes we did receive ranged from pedestrian (a “garden salad” composed mostly of eggplant; ¥20), to average (braised beef brisket; ¥25), to pleasing (ratatouille quiche with salad; ¥25). The café and wine cellar concept isn’t inherently flawed (Enoteca is particularly deft in its execution), but Oh! Marco still has a ways to go before it’s ready for prime time.
