Biteapitta is finally open! I stopped by today for the inaugural lunch (tipped off by my in-the-know friend, Verena) to sate my craving for Israeli-Middle Eastern food and we were not disappointed. The new location, just below Le Petit Gourmand, is light and airy with ample natural light and a mix of counter and table seating. We ordered the ten piece mezza (RMB50), which included smoky baba ganouch, hummus, roasted eggplant as well as other goodies, and the traditional falafel and hummus sandwich (RMB28). All the spicy, garlicy, herby flavors were punchier than I remember. We were also offered a complimentary glass of red wine in celebration of the opening. The mint tea (RMB12), served with fresh mint leaves and a sesame brittle, and the Middle Eastern coffee (RMB15) were a warm end to a lazy lunch.
Avi Shabtai, the proprietor of the much missed Bitepitta said, “I would get phone calls every day—when are you opening? And now we are finally here.” The food is served with the same care as at the former Super Bar Street location and eggheads should be pleased to know that the new Biteapitta outlet has wifi and ample outlets for uber-productive lunch breaks. Though the décor is still being finalized, the food is still of the Biteapitta I remember.

Love this guy and his wife, Wonderful to see him open again... Moshe from Texas, we will be comming to see you soon...
