Tell Us Your Favorite Desserts in Beijing and Win Dinner for Two at Song
Everyone loves a good dessert. For those who don't, life must be punishment.
So, we're compiling a list of Beijing's best desserts for an upcoming issue, and we want to know about all our readers' favorites and where you go to get them.
Tell us what is most mind-blowing about your chosen sticky caramel fudge cake, icy banana split or mango mousse, and you might win a dinner for two at Song, worth RMB200.
You can choose to have dinner ... or, spend it all on dessert. (We highly recommend Song's sticky banana pudding with caramel and honey-comb ice cream, as well as their double chocolate cake.)
Contest closes Monday, Oct 10. All you dessert lovers, please share!

As a die-hard dessert/chocolate fan, I'm all about All-Star's CHOCOLATE EXPLOSION!!! You haven't lived until you've tried this. It is served with Pistachio ice cream. BOMB -dizzle!!!

It is really difficult to say which is the favorite for me. a dessert fan! Probably Missisipi chocolate Mud cake, now I understand why the size of the designed clothes has been becoming larger and larger....

All the rich people in NY couldn't beat the richness of the NY Cheesecake at the CBD International in the Grand Millennium Hotel... or maybe that's an exaggeration. But it's pretty damn good!

It's the simple things in life you have to appreciate — such as the YY1 ice cream cones at Ikea. It's not a restaurant. It's not even the most extravagant dessert in Beijing by any stretch of the imagination. But it's always a satisfying experience.

I love the Rich Chocolate Truffle at Comptoirs de France Bakery. It is the only real french pastry shop in Beijing. They use Valrhona chocolate and it does taste marvellous all the time. I tried different desserts there also, they do have mouth-melting cheesecake! I've never been disappointed by them.

I know it sounds basic, but nothing beats the apple cake at Grandma's Kitchen. It's usually served warm and drizzled with caramel. It can't be beat!

Awfully Chocolate has the absolutely best chocolate cake! I can't get enough.

My favorite dessert in the Jing is the Key Lime Pie at Peter's Tex-Mex!
Now you're talking!

I crave the Halva Sayayon at W wine & Dine, with a dash of fresh fruit, Moroccan Halva & Madagascar vanilla Sabayon -- tis to die for!

I can't get enough of red bean shaved ice drizzled with condensed milk. Some milk tea vendors sell them, and of course, there are the fancier ones at Bellagio, but the food court in the basement of Wangfujing's Oriental Plaza sells the most basic kind that never disappoints. Lots of red bean, lots of milky goodness, large portions- awesome.
And then, for the times when you need a sugar-high extravaganza, go to American Steak and Eggs at Jianguomen for the carrot cake. The cream cheese frosting was thick enough to overpower even my super sweet tooth. In a good way. It was so reminiscent of all-butter American dessert goodness that I couldn't stop eating, and only the last few bites of the slice became sweetly nauseating.
Just one more: there's a tiny shop (booth, really) near the Wudaokou subway station that sells date cakes (枣糕). Sheet pans of the cake come steaming out of the oven in the back. The texture resembles angel food cake but is even more moist. Chunks of date (fruit that you most often see in its dried form) stud the cake. You know when you aren't really hungry but just want something sweet to satisfy the soul? I buy a piece for 1.5 kuai. It's faintly sweet, super airy and doesn't make me want to keel over afterwards.

One of the things I miss most about Beijing is Q Bar's "Cream Yogurt," a dessert that's both beautiful and amazingly delicious. It's a blend of creamy yogurt and blueberries in a red wine reduction, studded with miniature meringues, and I think it's even better than any of the cocktails at Q Bar!

seriously, you must check out Salt's new desserts. On Sunday I indulged in small panacakes with caramalized banana and chocolate soup... chocolate soup!! I never thought is possible. Paradise!! Their chocolate mousse with pistachios and berry sauce is also good if you're in the mood for something sweet. Go the new chef!!

-FAUCHON-
The taste of CHOCOLATEcake of FAUCHON makes me feel sexy and happiness.
