A post-holiday stop at The Mughal’s Restaurant revealed the much needed remodel of The Mughals Restaurant has been completed. Admittedly, the old washed out walls, rather dated interior didn’t stop me from enjoying the delicious lunch buffet (RMB45), but the new environment has a decidedly warmer feel. The creamy yellow interior has given way to a brown/taupe palette, with gleaming new tables and velvety scarlet chairs that pop from the background. The service is fast and friendly, especially when delivering the hot-out-of-the-oven naan to complement the small, yet consistently well-executed lunch offerings. To be honest, I keep returning for the spicy lentils and rice—a dish so simple, yet so satisfying. My husband loves Mughal’s lunch for the dedicated meat dish—usually a spicy chicken curry—and the fried goodies, like vegetable pakoras that are always featured on the buffet table. Add a RMB10 fresh made lemonade and both of us are fat, happy and full.

If you are a sucker for Southwest Asian food, like I am, swing on down to The Mughal’s Restaurant to check out their new digs and the same old, deliciously prepared food.
