Westin Financial Street F&B director Gary Shuai tells us what it's like having an awesome last name, where we should eat on Chinese New Year--and that he can't eat out without examining the china.

Do you ever get made fun of for having a last name that means “handsome”? Yes, at the first hotel I worked at, the HR put the names of all the new associates on the notice board, and everyone was trying to find me. No one ever believes that it’s my name when they meet me, so that’s why I always carry my ID card.

What’s more fun: fireworks or firecrackers? Fireworks are my favorite. I always buy a thousand RMB worth of fireworks, because I believe they will bring me good luck.

What should we eat to celebrate the Year of the Dragon? Chinese dumplings at Jewel.

Do you enjoy eating at restaurants, or does it remind you too much of work? I enjoy eating anywhere as long as the food is good. Of course, I will start to check the chinaware, flatware, glassware, menu design and food presentation … but I really enjoy it!

If you could only eat at one buffet station at Senses, which one would you pick? The seafood station. I like seafood, and our seafood station has a wide selection, which comes fresh every day.
