Hearts the world over break as Hong Kong tabloids reveal Maggie Cheung's new love interest.

Since her last movie, the award-winning “Clean” three years ago, mega-babe Maggie Cheung has been on hiatus from the silver screen. Fan blogs have been jumping with speculation and now thanks to some enterprising Hong Kong paparazzi, we have the answer why: She’s been busy dating.

Last month, she was spotted on a flight from Beijing to Hong Kong with a tall, handsome white guy by her side. After landing they dashed off to Cheung’s luxurious apartment where they cloistered for five days. After which, German starchitect Ole Scheeren rushed back to Beijing to continue work on the new CCTV tower.

Scheeren is well-known in Beijing. He’s a partner in the prestigious architectural house Office for Metropolitan Architecture under the direction of Rem Koolhaas. Tabloids report that they met at the birthday party of Cheung’s agent in Beijing this June. Soon after, Cheung and Scheeren were holding hands at the Swarovski Fashion Rocks Show in London. Being an international beauty and megastar, Cheung never lacks accolades in either the acting or style departments. Throughout her legendary career, she's nabbed Best Actress titles at both Berlin and Cannes. Her personal life has been a little rockier, though.

Cheung dated Hong Kong actor/director Derek Yee for many years before gaining fame in Europe. Her marriage to French director Olivier Assayas lasted for 15 months, sunk by a widely-rumored affair with co-star Tony Leung. The affair ended with Cheung divorced and Leung back with Lau.

“Each time I fall for someone, I always wish to stay with this person 24/7. This was for me a natural thing. But for the relationship, it was like a stretched rubber band, eventually it would break,” Cheung once told a Chinese magazine about her past relationships.

Will this be the one for Maggie Cheung? Judging from history, Cheung always falls deep. It will take a while before we know if the Scheeren is just a rebound. Meanwhile, Chenug's fans keep waiting for her next project. “I’ve played too many movies,” Cheung said, “If there aren't any projects I feel are suitable, I’d rather have more time of my own.”
